Comparing Shopping Reward Sites

Things to look for when comparing shopping reward sites.

As we have said on other pages, the best thing to do before you start using shopping reward sites is to join as many as you can then compare them to find the best ones for you.

We recommend that you pick a favourite and try to use that for all your purchases. Then have a second and third site for when your favourite doesn't have the retailer you are looking for.

Below are some things to look for when comparing sites and deciding which ones to use.

Payment.

Read the FAQs and help files to find out how and when you will be paid, and also what is the minimum you have to earn before you get your payment.

Sites vary enormously with regard to payments. Some have no minimum and for others it can vary from £5 up to £35. Some site pay you automatically each month, if you have reached the minimum needed, while others only pay you when you request a payment.

How are you paid? Most sites pay one or more of the following; Paypal, BACS and Cheque.

FAQs and Help files

Read the FAQs and Help files. Do they give you all the information you need to know? If you have a question about the site, can the answer be found in these files?

Support

Does the site have a support ticket system, or at least an email address where you can contact the admin should you have a problem or question.

Forums

Many sites also have forums and these can tell you a lot about the site. Have a read through the forum and see what other users are saying about it. Are they praising the site, or complaining they haven't been paid, or that it takes a long time to be paid. Does the admin of the site take an active part in the forum? Are they there answering questions and helping people? Often posting a question in the forum will get you an answer quicker than emailing the admin.

Contact Details

Does the site have all their contact details on the site? We would be inclined to trust a site which is open about who runs it more than a site that only has an online for as a means of contacting the site admin.

Your Account

How much detail does your account provide about your purchases or earning? And how often are the details updated? Some sites are very good and provide a lot of detail almost instantly, others only update your account details once per week.

We also know of two sites which which provide almost no details at all, except the amount of money that has cleared and is available for you to claim.

Other ways of earning money

Many of these sites have other ways to earn money too, such as signing up to free offers or trials. Before you start signing up to these offers and trials be aware that if a web site pays you to get hold of your email address then it WILL use it. We recommend you get a free email address and use that when you sign up to offers and trials. This will ensure your main email address doesn't get a lot of junk emails.

Most sites also feature well known shopping search engines which pay you a small amount just for using them. These search engines are often grouped under a heads such as "Daily Clicks", "Recurring Clicks" or "Daily Rewards" etc. So look out for them on the sites. The forums are often a good source of information about using these search engines.
